Does Shroomify work without an internet connection?
Once installed, the identification tools, field guide and personal logbook work offline. Download the app before heading out. Online extras, including weather outlooks where available, need a connection.
Can I use a photo to identify a mushroom?
Photo assistance suggests visible characteristics, such as the type of fungus and cap colour, for you to check. Use these as a starting point, then compare the whole specimen with the guide and examine its important lookalikes.
Is Shroomify free?
Pricing and included features vary by platform and country. Check the App Store or Google Play listing for the current price and purchase options. You can browse the mushroom guide on this website for free.
Which regions does the guide cover?
Shroomify includes regional datasets for Britain and Ireland, Europe, the USA and Canada. Select your region in the app to focus the guide on relevant species. The catalogue is a selection of fungi, not every species that may occur in an area.
Are my photographs uploaded automatically?
Photo analysis happens on your device. Photographs stay there unless you choose to contribute them. Sharing a photograph is optional; the privacy policy explains what happens if you choose to share.
Can a mushroom identification app tell me what is safe to eat?
An app cannot establish that a wild mushroom is safe to eat. Similar species can be difficult to distinguish, and some are deadly poisonous. Use Shroomify to learn and compare, and seek help from an experienced local expert when an identification is uncertain.
